Key takeaways
- Map Rating evaluates map proficiency on a 0–500 scale and C-to-S grades.
- The rating uses win rate, attacker win rate, defender win rate and Performance Score; recent matches contribute more.
- Performance Score adjustments increase the impact of damage, adjusted kills and adjusted deaths, with a Chamber-specific adjustment.
- Corrode had defender-route and mid-area updates; Ascent and Split moved out of the rotation while Corrode and Bind came in per the patch notes.
Competitive feature: Map Rating
Map Rating is the most prominent competitive feature in 13.08. It gives players a map-specific measure using a 0–500 rating and a C-to-S letter grade. Riot says the calculation considers Overall Win Rate, Attacker Win Rate, Defender Win Rate and Performance Score, and that recent matches carry more weight than older matches.
The feature is available in Competitive and Premier. Riot’s notes also state that other players cannot see an individual’s Map Rating, and historical matches do not count toward ratings at launch. In practice, use the rating as a private map review tool, not as proof that a single map is inherently easier or that the rating directly equals your rank.
Performance Score adjustments
Patch 13.08 describes further adjustments to Performance Score after earlier changes in 13.06. Riot increased the impact of Damage, Adjusted Kills and Adjusted Deaths, which include First Bloods and First Deaths, and made Chamber-specific adjustments to better reflect utility use.
For players reviewing their games, the takeaway is that the evaluation system is intended to value multiple forms of contribution, not simply the raw kill count. Do not compare a current Performance Score to a past ACS number as if both used exactly the same method.
Corrode map updates and rotation
The Corrode update addresses defender pathing into the back of A and B sites to shorten rotations and support retakes. Riot also describes changes around Mid to make fights more predictable. The patch notes list Ascent and Split leaving the active rotation and Corrode and Bind entering it for the relevant mode.
Map rotations are mode- and date-sensitive. When preparing a tournament plan, verify the map pool used in that competition rather than assuming the live ranked rotation is identical to the professional event’s rules.
Client, agents and enforcement transparency
The patch includes a new queue/mode-selection interface for matchmade and custom games and a navigation bar in Career to reach areas such as Rank Legacy, Accolades and Map Rating. The Agent notes include a Killjoy Alarmbot visual/audio feedback fix when a projectile is destroyed by moving doorways.
Riot’s general updates also published additional penalty numbers for the previous detection period. Those numbers describe accounts banned or penalised for different categories in the period Riot identifies; they are not an estimate of every problematic player in the game.
